Laxmikanta Nath 2019-06-25 21:23:21
Bhubaneswar, June 25 (RNI) : In line with the Adani Group new motto Growth with Goodness, the members of Adani Group at Dhamra Port created a new district record by contributing 601 units of blood in a single day. The employees, workers, family members and port associates took a combined pledge to contribute to nation building by donating blood and other voluntary services for betterment of society at a large. Adani Foundation in association with Odisha Blood Bank, Bhadrak organized a Blood Donation drive at Dhamra Port here on Monday. Chief Executive Officer of Dhamra Port Subrat Tripathy commenced the drive by donating blood for the noble cause. Led by his example, the employees of Adani Dhamra Parivar came forward with enthusiasm and collectively donated an impressive 601 units of blood in a single day. Blood donations can give a new lease of life to many. This thought was overwhelmingly put into action by the entire Adani Parivar during the Blood Donation Drive. The enthusiasms among donors speak volumes about the commitment of the Adani Group towards contributing for welfare of the society. The practice of giving is universally recognized as one of the greatest human virtues, which affirms the depth of humanity. In a quest to give an opportunity to all the employees of Adani Group, a similar Blood Donation Drive was also held last year. Over the last two decades, the Adani Foundation has been playing the role of facilitator for the benefit of the public without distinction of caste or community, sector, religion, class or creed, for social and economic welfare and upliftment of the people in general. It abides by the Gandhian philosophy of trusteeship and believes in using wealth, talent and privileges for those who are less fortunate. The Foundation works in four chosen areas of intervention namely – Education, healthcare, sustainable livelihood development and rural infrastructure development. It endeavors to make the less fortunate ones of the society self-reliant sustainable through its chosen CSR initiatives and towards bettering as many lives as it can by bringing smiles to the communities. While the Adani Group continues its exponential growth, its commitment towards “Doing Better” for the society keeps pace with its ambitions of “Thinking Big”.
Patnagarh MLA Arrested By Police In Sit-Up Case
Laxmikanta Nath 2019-06-25 20:38:31
Bhubaneswar, June 25 (RNI): The district police today arrested BJD Patnagarh MLA Saroj Meher following his detention for allegedly forcing a Public Works Department (PwD) engineer to do sit-ups. Later, he was produced before the Additional District Judge (ADJ) court. Earlier this morning, the legislator was detained by the police in Nuapada and brought to Bolangir for questioning. It is pertinent to mention that in a report to the State government, Bolangir Collector Arindam Dakua had stated that due to sub-standard road construction work, the Patnagarh MLA punished Junior Engineer Jayakanta Sabar in public in Belpada area and directed the engineer-in-charge to slap the JE. On June 6, a video purportedly showing the BJD MLA forcing the JE to do sit-ups hundred times within five minutes had gone viral. Though the newly elected MLA tendered an apology, a day after the incident, a case was lodged against him on the basis of a complaint filed by the engineer’s wife against the newly elected legislator accusing him of publicly humiliating her husband. Police sources said the case has been registered under different sections of the IPC and SC, ST Atrocities Act. Demanding action against the legislator, the District Tribal Welfare Association had threatened to gherao the Odisha Assembly on June 26.
